An electronic payment enabler Oxigen Services today launched OxiCash, a prepaid electronic payment system for mobile and PC users with which various utility payments can be made without paying cash.
"We intend to offer a unique facility of making easy payments over SMS, GPRS or web with OxiCash," Oxigen Founder Chairman and MD Pramod Saxena said.
The service is mainly targeted at increasing mobile and PC users, who can make transactions for recharging of prepaid mobiles, telephone bills, electricity and water bills, DTH recharges and other e-commerce related transactions, through their mobile phones.
Mobile users can open an OxiCash account by sending an SMS to the service providers number and then they can recharge this account by buying recharge coupons of OxiCash.
"This OxiCash account is going to be the wallet of the next-gen users through which they can buy any kind of services from any kind of merchants we have a tie-up with," added Saxena.
OxiCash has currently 50,000 touch points across the country, where it's recharge coupons are available, and the company is expecting to expand its retail network to 250,000 stores by 2010.
