As the economic crunch bites into the revenues of companies, California-based Infogain Corporation, which has offices at Noida and Pune, is foreseeing a growth in its application management business.
“Application management is not a core function of companies operating in different sectors, and many of them are realising the cost savings in outsourcing it. After all, an expertise in application management alone will not help a particular company sell its products better”, Eddie Chandhok, president, global delivery organization of Infogain said.
Infogain, which has offices in the US, UK, Middle East and India, has clients in the retail and transport sectors, and in the UK the company is helping its clients connect better with their customers in the transport domain.
“We are in the transport/CRM domain in the UK and help our customers with processes like selling tickets through kiosks or hand-held devices like mobile phones”, Chandhok said.
Regarding the application management space, Chandhok said companies were realizing the futility in reinventing the wheel and outsourcing the application management work to tech companies that had the expertise in it, thereby saving costs and time.
“A typical company for example could be managing its website manually, while the new tools we have developed not only help us to automatically monitor client websites but even get auto alerts when there is a hint that something could go wrong with a site, like a sudden increase in traffic”, Chandhok said.
He said the slowdown in verticals like retail had led to a delay in clients giving the go-ahead to building new applications, and that on the flipside, more companies were looking at outsourcing application management to slash costs.
