FIRST SEZ UNIT IN AUGUST

Zensar Technologies’ unit would begin at the Eon Free SEZ in Pune this August, deputy chairman and managing director Ganesh Natarajan said on Wednesday.

He said the 300-seater facility would be Zensar’s first SEZ unit. The company has invested Rs 5 crore in the facility.

“Our next SEZ project will come up at Hyderabad,” Natarajan said. The Hyderabad facility will also be a 300-seater.

The two SEZ units would initially look at IT development but would shift focus to BPO activities later, he said.

Natarajan said that Zensar’s SEZ plans depend on the extension of the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) policy. “We are pushing for an extension of the STPI scheme and if that comes through, we will set up a new campus within an SEZ.”
