New Jersey-based Telcordia Technologies, providers of software and services for IP, wireline, wireless, and cable networks, is planning to optimise its network by working on its software agents, termed “service genies,” who will mimic user preferences and guide them through data jungles.
Explaining how this new technology would help end-users, Naveen Suri, vice-president, Telcordia Technologies, said, “Information that people receive will be directed to a more predictive and anticipatory paradigm where people and machines will receive it before using it. Information will be delivered in the format, language and perspective that the user wants and will be tailored to user’s behaviour, taste and preference. For example, your refrigerator will store not only your grocery, but will also relay the list to your nearest grocer, who will keep your groceries ready for pick-up.”
A substantial part of the research work on this is being carried out at Telcordia’s Chennai lab, which is part of its global R&D network that provides new product and software features for mobile, fixed line and cable operators around the world.
Suri said, “In a world where there’s abundance of information, our goal is to reduce the attention required by human beings to optimise the number and sources of information they need. This optimisation will be facilitated by ‘service genies’.
