Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday had discussions here with Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh on development projects for the State, including investment and development in the power sector, setting up of an international trade centre at Pampore, investments in the IT sector and holding of a global handicrafts expo in Srinagar.
Ramesh stressed the need to give a fast-track approval and resolve all issues pertaining to the 1,300 MW Sawalkote power project in Udhampur-Doda region.
He said Tata Consultancy Services and Nasscom were ready to make investments in the IT sector in the Kashmir Valley and a Nasscom team had visited the State in this regard. Appreciating the series of projects launched by the UPA government, Abdullah said he would now take upon the task of putting these into action. He assured Ramesh of all help in this direction.
