Increased awareness and security risks has meant that the security segment has become a big growth area for Texas Instruments (TI) India. The semiconductor major creates chips and designs, which are used by OEM partners to manufacture various security products.
Praveen Ganapathy, director, corporate business development, TI India, said, “We are seeing lot of varying customers for our security solutions and products. The interest has increased especially in the last six months.”
Among the solutions that TI has are its digital products including IP net camera, digital video recorder and digital video server. Ganapathy said that several enterprises are deploying these solutions and clients include Bangalore-based malls, IT corporates, traffic units and airports/hotels for perimeter security.
One of the company’s biggest thrusts at present is on application-specific reference design based on the DaVinci processors. Ganapathy declined to quantify it, but said design activity has grown significantly since the Mumbai terror attacks last year.
