iSOFT, the healthcare IT solutions provider with its product development centres in India, has entered the Italian market, expanding its global footprint to 38 countries.
iSOFT has won a $850,000 (Euro 600,000) contract to install hospital information system (HIS) in four hospitals operated by Consorzio Regionale Servizi Sociali (CRESS), a private healthcare group based in Italy’s Liguria region. The project is funded by Liguria’s regional government.
The institutions that will receive iSOFT’s HIS include two 60-bed hospitals at Savona, an 88-bed hospital at Andora, and another in Cegio with 40 beds. iSOFT is discussing a proposal to roll out the solution at all of CRESS’s 50 hospitals and health centres once this initial project is completed.
According to iSOFT’s officials, HIS solution will include functions such as admissions, nursing stations and physiotherapy. In the second phase, due to start next year, iSOFT will add other HIS modules such as clinical notes, clinical requests, and electronic medical histories in a deal potentially worth a further €Euro 400,000.
This is the second such contract iSOFT has won this month, the first with National Health Service (NHS) trust in southern England worth £2.4 million (US$3.54m) over five years.
Under the contract, iSOFT will install its i.Patient Manager (i.PM) PAS and i.Clinical Manager (i.CM) i.PM solutions at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals of NHS Foundation Trust.
The trust had made the contract directly with iSOFT instead of waiting for a solution under England’s National Programme for IT. This is one of the first major deals in the Southern Cluster, which was formerly serviced by Fujitsu.
The trust serves a population of more than 4,50,000 in six locations — Wexham Park Hospital near Slough, Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot and hospitals and outpatient clinics in Bracknell, Maidenhead, the Chalfonts, and Windsor.
