Enterprise IT management major Computer Associates is projecting a 50 percent growth in its India business this fiscal, hoping to ride on a buoyancy in the small and medium enterprise segment in the country that is seeking the technology route to step up efficiencies.
“We expect our India business, comprising the broad categories of value business related to the enterprise segment and the volume business relating to the SME segment, to show an overall growth of 50 percent this fiscal, with the SME segment alone promising to grow at 100 percent” Amit Chatterjee, CA’s managing director for India and SAARC said.
In a related development, CA’s development centre in Hyderabad which presently has a headcount of roughly 1,600 and is the company’s single largest development centre globally, will see an expansion with a capex of Rs 150 crore that will see the headcount going up by about 1,000.
Chatterjee said while there was a general increase in SME sector growth for improving IT efficiencies, verticals within the SME sector like retail and private banks were showing a pronounced growth, and that the same could not be said about the manufacturing vertical in the SME space.
CA foresees a strong growth in its core business of enterprise IT management (ETIM), particularly in the e-governance domain. The company is anticipating strong growth in the e-governance space, considering the massive applications roll out in programmes like the National e-Governance Programme, the State Wide Area Network and the more recent Mission Mode programme, all of which would require governing, managing and securing the IT applications.
Chatterjee said CA had rolled out a slew of products to enhance IT efficiencies for enterprises, and that the downturn had prompted more companies to appreciate the importance of enhancing productivity.
In order to promote the efficiency drive among enterprises, CA has launched the Lean IT campaign aimed to help CIOs achieve IT efficiencies through waste reduction, productivity increase and improvement in overall customer experience
