APPLE TO LAUNCH IPOD TOUCH IN OCTOBER

Apple Inc's iPod touch will be available to Indian customers from October 8, a top company official said.

"The new iPod touch will be available on October 8 for a maximum retail price of Rs 15,100 for the 8 GB model, Rs 19,100 for 16 GB and Rs 25,000 for the 32 GB model through Apple authorised resellers," Apple's Asia Pacific Senior Manager, E Y Yeo, said here on Monday.

iPod touch users can listen to million of songs, watch thousands of Hollywood moves and now, thanks to the App Store, download and play hundreds of games, Yeo said.

The 32 GB model holds upto 7,000 songs, the 16 GB model upto 3,500 songs and 8 GB holds upto 1,750 songs.

The new iPod touch works with the new iTunes 8 Genius feature, allowing customers to automatically create playlists while on the go.

The iPod is the world's most popular family of digital music players with over 160-million sold. Apple's new lineup includes the iPod shuffle starting at Rs 2,700. The fourth generation iPod nano is available at Rs 9,700.
