SATYAM COMPUTER ACQUIRES LAND FOR SEZ IN NAGPUR AND VISHAKHAPATTANAM

Global IT solutions provider Satyam Computer Services has acquired land to set up two special economic zone (SEZ) notified facilities in Vishakhapattanam and Nagpur to accommodate more than 18,000 software professionals over the next three to four years.

The company is also looking at Malaysia and Australia as its next overseas destinations for growth in IT services segment.

Meanwhile, the company today launched its new development centre with a seating capacity of 5,000 professionals in Pune.

The new SEZ-notified unit will service Satyam's global clients in engineering solutions, SAP and financial services segments.

The new centre in Pune will be fully operational within 20 months.

The company has invested around Rs 100 crore for this centre.

With this, the company's total investment in Pune has crossed Rs 300 crore as it has three more centres operational in the city since 1996.

Satyam's Asia-pacific operations head Virender Aggarwal, said "...after Pune, we are looking at expansion in Vishakhapattanam where an SEZ-notified unit of 10,000 seating capacity will be set up within two years. Other than this, we have acquired space within a huge SEZ project near Nagpur where we plan to have a development centre of 8,000 professionals."
