GOVT APPROVES PROJECT FOR SETTING UP TECHNOLOGY PARK

The Delhi government today approved a project prepared by IT industry body Nasscom for setting up a Science and Technology Park here to position the national capital as a global innovation hub. The proposed S&T Park would be set up by the state government at the Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) campus in Dwarka, Nasscom said in a statement.

The project report for the S&T Park was prepared by Nasscom with assistance from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

It would focus on research and development in emerging technologies and wouldalso include an incubator to promote entrepreneurship in technology innovations, it added.

"We see the Science and Technology Park at Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) as a strategic initiative to position Delhi as a pre-eminent R&D cluster for the knowledge industries which are today looking at undertaking advanced scientific research across various fields," Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said. President, Nasscom Som Mittal said, "Through this initiative we also aim to step up industry and academia interactions for capacity building in emerging technologies at both faculty and student levels."
