Geodesic Information Systems on Monday said it has changed its name to Geodesic Ltd to better reflect the current nature of its businesses.
The name change comes into effect from September 19, a company release said here.
"Our company long ago accomplished the mission implied by our old name of having an information systems company," Geodesic's Managing Director Kiran Kulkarni said in the release.
The company now has gone way beyond information systems to downloads that help one make free phone calls, devices that bring computing to people and software that help banks connect with customers, he said.
"The new name will adequately reflect the current nature of the businesses in the company fold and reflect our expanded mission of tapping and playing a vital role in the emerging telecommunications market," Kulkarni said.
The Mumbai-headquartered firm is a leading software products company focussing on content, communication and collaboration space across desktops and mobile devices.
