Cognizant Technology Solutions has announced that it has won a $100-million, multi-year contract from HealthNet. Cognizant will provide applications development and maintenance services to HealthNet. The initial term of the agreement is five years and three months, commencing from September 30, 2008.

Francisco D’Souza, president and chief executive officer of Cognizant, said: “Another example of our ability to leverage our leadership position in health care is a contract which was announced this quarter between Cognizant and Health Net. This is a great example of an opportunity in this difficult economy where clients make transformational decisions using global sourcing as a key lever.”

HealthNet is one of USA’s largest publicly traded managed healthcare companies. Cognizant has been a provider of services to HealthNet for several years. Cognizant extended its relationship with HealthNet this quarter to provide application development, testing and monitoring, application maintenance and support services and project management services.

”We are increasingly engaging as a trusted partner to our clients at the senior executive levels because our ability to bring cost saving and higher productivity is so important to their enterprise value. In coming quarters, we expect to use our agility and broad range of services to become more instrumental in helping clients navigate these turbulent economic times and emerge as even stronger businesses," D'Souza added.
