As bad news pile upon bad news for the IT sector, Cognizant has found one segment that's bringing in good tidings- its consulting business.
Recently, the company won a significant testing engagement with a consumer goods company to test large part of their applications over the next three years. Reason: Its consulting practice. Because of consulting, Francisco D Souza, Cognizant's 39 year CEO said, two things happened.
"We were able to establish a thought leadership position with them and we were better positioned to take the down stream work. The client put in a RFP (request for proposal) and invited a number of players. But, because we did a testing engagement, they were able to understand what we were capable of. So, that’s the kind of thing that is going on in consulting and we call that pull through revenues."
