The BSE-listed firm intends to provide software consulting, application development and maintenance services for law firms, litigation support vendors and others, according to Tricom`s Managing Director, Chetan Kothari.
As a first step in this direction, the firm has successfully developed and marketed a Web crawler for Internet start-up firms. A Web crawler is a software that collects content on the Internet and indexes them to be retrieved when demanded by a user query.
To further strengthen its presence in the ITeS space, Tricom has initiated talks with a US-based company that provides IT & systems integration, application development and maintenance services. “If this tie-up goes through, we will be the offshore partner for this US company. We are in an advanced stage of negotiations with them,” said Kothari.
Tricom, which has already bagged four clients for IT services, expects to double the contribution of software services (to overall company revenues) to eight percent by March 2010.
Tricom has traditionally been a BPO company providing non-voice based services related to litigation support, e-publishing, and accounts payable processing among others.
“From the time we started our BPO operations, we had our own software team for developing tools that would support our BPO delivery. Since we had the in-house expertise, we decided to offer it as a third-party services,” Kothari said.
