Making phone calls from your handset, checking mails on your BlackBerry, smartphone or laptop on board may soon become a reality. Airbus, the leading global aircraft manufacturer owned by EADS Group, has already developed an aircraft connectivity platform, that is a generation beyond other available systems.
The connection platform does not intervene with an aircraft’s signal receiving and sending mechanism.
And that’s not all.
Nearly one-third of the Airbus employees are engineers in the research and development (R&D) wing and they are burning the midnight oil on bringing in various in-flight entertainment and connectivity services. These offerings on a flight will take a cabin’s creature comforts to new heights. Airbus is also exploring the use of alternative fuels, a senior Airbus spokesman said.
