MEDALS RING IN PROFITS FOR SPORTS GOODS EXPORTERS

Sachin Dave, Mumbai

India is on a winning spree. At least in the ring. With a bronze in wrestling and a hint of gold still gleaming in boxing, India is (Olympics) Game. Though never perceived as money-spinners, boxing and wrestling sit today as India’s sports of choice. Besides, India’s performance in these sports is slated to boost exports.

And it’s not just the sports equipment. Indian companies in software development have already reaped benefits. Take, for instance, Radix, an Ahmedabad-based company, which is into making technology work for its clients and delivers offshore and outsourcing solutions. Radix has developed betting software for a Switzerland company through which bets on tennis players could be placed. Even Rafael Nadal, the Olympian star, had rushed to Swantha Software, a Bangalore-based company some time back for helping him out to defeat Roger Federer. India truly is on a roll.
