INTEL LAUNCHES ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM CENTRINO 2

Intel Corporation today launched advanced technology platform, which includes processors and related chipset for laptops that promises faster performance, better graphics-rendering abilities and more security.

Under the platform -- Intel Centrino '2'-- it released five new Intel Core 2 Duo Processors. Centrino 2 is the upgraded version of Centrino.

The company has planned to introduce 14 new processors this year.

"The company plans to unveil nine new processors within 90 days that will include mobile quad-core products and second generation products for the ultra thin and light notebooks. In all Intel will bring 14 diverse new processors into the marketplace as laptops sales continue to outpace desktop PCs," Intel South Asia Director (Sales) R Ravichandran said.

Intel is also betting big on the Centrino 2's high-definition media capability.

"The whole platform is set up to enhance Blu-ray playback, and it would help a laptop's battery last two hours, which means you can see the entire HD movie without having to recharge," Ravichandran said.

The Centrino 2 platform comes in two forms-- one for consumers, and one with for business customers.

For consumers, Intel Centrino 2 processor technology delivers the horsepower and battery life plus the ability to play a variety of online games, download music or post videos faster.

For Business, Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology offers enhanced manageability and security options. This is increasingly important as companies replace desktops with notebooks.
