Software services provider Cognizant's CEO Francisco D'Souza, 39, has been named one of the "21 youngest CEOs" heading America's biggest companies by Forbes magazine. Interestingly, the list applies even in India, as far as its key competitors are concerned. Nasdaq-listed Cognizant has most of its employees in India and competes with biggies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCL here. In terms of age, Cognizant's D'Souza is the youngest compared to his peers in the Indian off shoring space.
TCS' Ramadorai is 64, Infosys' Kris Gopalakrishnan is 53, HCL Technologies' Vineet Nayar is 46, and Wipro's co-CEOs Suresh Vaswani & Girish Paranjpe are 48 and 50 respectively.
It's not clear what the age of the new Satyam CEO will be. D'Souza, who joined Cognizant in 1994, became COO of the company in 2003, when he was 33. He succeeded Lakshmi Narayanan as CEO a couple of years back. Last year, he also made it to Forbes' list of young CEOs with the highest pay package in the US, which said he drew $3.7 million per annum.
