In pursuant to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the state IT department and the Science and Technology Park of India (STPI), the Orissa government will provide 3 acres land for the proposed STPI Centre at Ambapua near Berhampur.

The premium of Rs 85.64 lakh for this piece of land will be waived by the state government. The state cabinet chaired by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal to this effect. While STPI Centres are working in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, the government wants another STPI Centre to come up at Berhampur.

This is expected to promote and assist fast growth of the software industries in the state, chief secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy said.
