The World Economic Forum has announced 34 visionary companies selected as Technology Pioneers 2009 for their accomplishments as innovators of the highest calibre, and whose technologies will have a deep impact on business and society.

Previous Technology Pioneers awardees, which have turned into today's technology icons, include Google, Infosys, Mozilla Corporation and Nanosolar among others.

Following are the top 15 technology pioneers honoured by WEF this year:

Advanced Track & Trace
Jean-Pierre Massicot, Chief Executive Officer

Advanced Track & Trace is a pioneer in digital security solutions applied to Brand Protection. ATT is a French company, subsidiary of the LAMY Energies & Technologies Group It is headquartered in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris. Jeremy Allaire, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Brightcove is an online video platform used by media companies, businesses and organisations worldwide to publish and distribute video on the Web. Its on-demand platform is used by hundreds of professional publishers to power online video initiatives that reach over a hundred million Internet users every month.

Etsy Inc.
Robert Kalin, Founder

Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade. Its mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers. Its vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice: Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade.

Klaas Kersting, Chief Executive Officer

Gameforge is the largest independent supplier of browser- and client-based MMOGs (massively multiplayer online games) worldwide.
